Daniele Conversi is Research Professor at the Ikerbasque Foundation for Science and the University of the Basque Country (EHU/UPV), Bilbao, Euskadi (Spain). He received his PhD at the London School of Economics and worked in various institutions, including Cornell University, Syracuse University and the Central European University, Budapest. His interests include nationalism and globalisation, with an emphasis on the comparative dimensions of militarism, boundary construction and the ‘nationalization of the masses’ since the French Revolution. He has also published on modernity and modernism, diasporas and the internet, democracy and culture, cosmopolitanism and nationalism, Westernization and genocide, cultural pluralism and diversity. His first book, The Basques, the Catalans and Spain, has been widely used across various disciplines at all levels of higher education.
